This New York Botanical Garden wedding captured by Kelly Vasami is jam packed with elegance and sophistication. From the bride’s stunning dress to her chic hair style to the perfect color palette of purple, green and white that compliments the murals adorning the walls of the Terrace Room, this lovely fête is OMG-gorgeous.From the Bride: I had never been one of those girls who had dreamt of her wedding all her life. Then Andrew and I became engaged, and wedding planning became a necessary reality. I was leaning toward something on the formal side but had no clear cut vision. Our priority was to find a venue with available dates in late September/early October. We looked at several places in the Westchester area, as well as out in the Hamptons, as that is where Andrew and I had met. It wasn’t until we saw the space at New York Botanical Garden that we immediately knew that this was exactly what we wanted. Not only was the Garden Terrace Room beautiful, but it fulfilled Andrew’s need for a large dance floor (having been in 12 weddings, he had his set of priorities) and ample room for a large band. It also allowed us to have our cocktail hour outside on a patio overlooking some of the gardens.

The beautiful murals that adorn the Garden Terrace Room walls and The Garden itself were our inspiration. Because we were getting married in the fall, we knew we wanted colors that complimented the season. With the help of my sister Caitlin and my sister-in-law Jessica, we selected a violet dress for the maid of honor and bridesmaid dresses that were a dark purple. Our florist at Forever in Bloom suggested using two different arrangements for the tables – one large arrangement on half the tables and three smaller arrangements on the other half, incorporating the colors purple, green and white. When we selected our invitations, we had them printed in green ink with a small floral motif that we had repeated on the programs, continuing the botanical theme. Our photographer’s photojournalistic style expertly captured every aspect of our wedding. It was a day we will certainly never forget. For someone who had no definite idea coming into it, choosing The New York Botanical Garden as the venue made all the difference in the world.
